B283 is a rectangular reinforcement fabric providing a greater steel area in its main direction than its cross direction. Its key details are:

• Main steel area: 283mm² per metre
• Cross wire diameter: 7mm
• Cross wire spacing: 200mm centres
• Cross steel area: 193mm² per metre
• Nominal mass: 3.73kg per m²

The number “283” refers to the nominal cross-sectional area of steel provided per metre in the main direction. It does not describe the sheet size or wire diameter.

Although the main wires are smaller, they are positioned closer together. This creates a larger steel area in the main direction, making the orientation shown in the project drawings important.

Common Uses for B283 Reinforcement Mesh

Depending on the structural design, B283 reinforcement mesh may be specified for concrete slabs, floors, walls and other elements requiring greater reinforcement in the main direction.

It is not interchangeable with square mesh or another B-series grade. Similar-looking products may have different wire diameters, spacing and steel areas, so order the exact reference shown in the project documents.
