Shape Code 15 Explained

The shape code identifies the arrangement of the bend and straight sections. In the diagram, one section is inclined relative to the other. Shape Code 15 therefore tells the supplier which configuration is needed, while the accompanying dimensions determine the size of the finished bar.

Treat the drawing references as a guide to entering information, rather than an invitation to choose your own geometry. The bar diameter is also a separate part of the specification. If you have a code but no measurements, request the missing details from your engineer. Don’t estimate dimensions from the illustration or substitute another bent shape because it looks similar.
